Any New Weapons yet?
"The 2007 Design-A-
Weapon Contest was the most popular Guild Wars contest ever! ... " And yet, I'm still waiting to see more entries in the game. I ruffled Gailes feathers (unintentionally) a couple months back with my whining about not seeing Design-a-Weapon winners in the game yet. As she stated, there have been several posts in other forums and such saying that the good folks in charge of such things did not want to just throw everything in in a heap. The best answer as to when was "...after Wintersday." My original gripe was the speed at which a Winters Day hat could be made and put in the game, so why weren't the weapons in yet? I accept the reasoning for the weapons not being in game yet, but having to wait until after Winters Day, I'd kind of hoped that maybe they would be connected to the Dragon Festival, coinciding with Chinese New Year...but, oh, yeah...we had it in July. Drat! So, here I am...nearly a year of the announcement of the contest (Feb. 20, 2007) wondering what kind of event might be planned. I hope it's something good...and I hope it's something soon! Looking back, here's a timeline so far: Contest announced February 20, 2007 Entry deadline March 30, 2007 Waiting anxiously February 25-May 10, 2007 Winners Announced May 11, 2007 (woot! I'm a winner!) Heavy bragging while trying to appear humble May 11, 2007-July 19, 2007 GW:EN In stores July 20, 2007 the following weapons in gameas Bonus items: Glacial Blade, Darksteel Longbow, and Hourglass Staff. And Rose Focus as quest reward. I got cranky November 13, 2007. I was fussing about the hats being in game in short order while we Design-a-Weapon winners were still waiting. Gaile replied: "As I have said...the items will be added. We never gave a timeline, with intent, because we knew we'd be working nose down on the BMP plus other things as well, and in addition we wanted to see if we could do a bit more than simply throw them all into the game. I've talked to John, and we anticipate that these items will start appearing after Wintersday." JASON626 starts theread "Design-a-Weapon Winners in Game Yet?" January 1, 2008 BMP Available January 28, 2008 Waiting axiously for any info what-so-ever...present. Has anyone heard of any special events, seen any unusual activity, intercepted any carrier pigeons....anything? I know my Frog Wand is a bit goofy and not nearly the coolest weapon in the contest, but I would sincerely like to see it appear in GW...unless they want to hold off and put it in GW2 If anyone knows anything....PLEASE....set this poor man's mind at ease. Throw me a bone... __________________ |

Well... one other possibility >_< . some lucky chump in the next update or so is going to open the zaishen chest, to reveal the first "weapon design contest winner" weapon, and sell it for 1500e + a bunch of armbraces + rare mini's ... lol
EDIT: DIBS on being one of the first few owners of these rare items! lol, i wanna sell them overpriced too >_< |

Dragon Festival != Canthan New Year. Why is that so hard for people to figure out? Dragon Festival is in July, Canthan New Year is in February.

And ya, I would like to see some new weapons, hopefully cool, that I can sell for an insane amount before they become common. |

That aside...any other special events anyone hear rumor of? It'd be nice if they ran something like Sorrow's Furnace again. Or included them in the BMP (though that ship seems to have sailed). After waiting so long, I hope it's something good. Anyone remember how long it took to get the weapons in from the other contests? Does it just feel longer this time? or is nine+ months really to be expected? Of course last time there were only 1/3 as many winners. Not intended as flame-bait...And I really am trying not to fuss (much)...but I've gone from being really excited, to kind of worried. With all the work going in to "other things" (BMP...which has really been done for some time, GW2, and...?) I get this sinking feeling that maybe the winning designs are slated for the back burner until the Charr shave their backs, cap their teeth and start building Starbucks near every crossroads. I still have faith, mind you, but I'd sure like to know what they have planned...I hope the wait is worth it. There have been lots of cool things in the past...let's hope the future shines as bright. |

although i'd love to see the winning designs in GW1 , if i were one of the winners, i'd think about this: What will be played more in the next year or two to come, GW1 or GW2? Although you'd have to wait longer for your weapon to be implemented ingame, it would be even longer imortalized if placed in GW2.

im almost sure there will be some overlap between the wep designs for the two games so i say they should introduce them sooner then transfer the popular ones over later

I'm sure you will see a thread in riverside as soon as someone sells their new design a weapon weapon ingame for 100k+:P
And hiding the drop location.
